Help with drop shocks
Hey guys,
I am installing a 3/5" drop on my 70 CST/10, and just wondering what I can go with for shocks that will work with the new drop. It would be nice if someone had some part numbers for some Monroes that will work for me or something of the sort that I can just go to my local auto store and pick up rather than ordering special online. The reason I am doing the spring swap is because the PO just heated the coils until they were basically fully compressed to drop the truck, and I wanted to remedy this ASAP while still keeping somewhat of a lower stance. Any help is much appreciated! Cheers |

Re: Help with drop shocks
Not sure if my '65 is just like your '70 in regards to shocks, but I think it is. Check out this thread it has stock Monroe part numbers and a DIY Upper Shock Relocation Bracket: Upper Rear Shock Relocation 63-72
Be sure to read the above mentioned link and then measure your set-up using the dimensions provided below: Shocks:These shocks and the home-made upper mounts will save you some serious $$$.Rear: Monro-Matic Plus P/N 32207: 17.875" Extended, 11.250" Collapsed Hope that helps.... and good luck! Re: Help with drop shocks
Thanks for the info/link lakeroadster! Very useful information! But for right now I'm looking to just find some shocks that will do for the summer, as this thing is almost ready to go back on the road. I will do the shock relocation in the fall/winter along with the other additions/projects I have planned for it.

Re: Help with drop shocks
I think the shocks I listed above will work without the relocation. Get under your truck and measure the shock eye to eye dimension...... then compare that to the dimensions shown above.
Be aware though the shocks may not work very well laying down at that much of an angle. Max. angle off vertical for shocks is 30 degrees. As discussed in the above mentioned link here is what I was told by the tech. at Monroe: Thank you for contacting Tenneco Automotive. Last edited by lakeroadster; 04-19-2011 at 07:18 PM. |
