Hidden gas caps

Im doing the standard take the gas tank out of the cab move but I don't want to change the way the bed or sheet metal look by adding a door to them. So I've been thinking of locations and methods for hidden gas caps. I'm thinking of doing a section of the bed hinged so I can get to the tank.

What are your preferences thoughts?

Delmo has done a couple. He hinges one of the boards... Thats how I want to do mine. He said he used some parts from Lowes to do it. Maybe we can sweet talk him into some better pics of it.

I was thinking of a hing near the cab and then a hood piston near the tailgate initially but this looked cleaner

Yep thats similar to what dell did. I looked at that kit to... just pricey for what it is.

Nice setup though for a wood bed floor. I have a metal floor and put the popup style cap in lower drivers rear wheel well. Keeps it out of the snow and rain.

Do you have pics of it in the wheel well? I was thinking about that as an option

Mutt65, I like that hinge kit. I would be concerned of having something in the bed and not being able to access.
I am stuck on this same issue for my 65 step side.

I have a fleet side I'm thinking about doing it in between the wheel well and the tailgate. You could find a flaw in one of your slats and just make a 6 inch slat hinge up

My wheel well looks the same with a cap but bought a popup one and going to change to that, even nicer, bought it from Scotts Super trucks in Alberta Canada.

I have a 62 c10 short bed step side and I was thinking of using the original location. Im going to make a bracket to mount it in the fender well on the drivers side. This way it is completly hidden.

ive seen one guy use the bed stake hole. he has a thread on here with it.

I have been thinking about behind a tail light, like a 56 Chevy Bel Air. If I had a fleet side I believe this would be easier. I already have the hinge and lock system figured. But of course I have a step side. I am thinking about mounting the fleet side light in the back of the fender and making the left rear one move out and over.
