original dealer names question
Considering themes for my 48 gmc. Thought it would be cool to make it a patina dealer delivery truck. I know I can just make up a dealer name and slap it on the doors but I would really like to find a picture of an original or a picture of signage from a gmc dealer from 1948-1955ish. Ideally it would be one located in kansas, nebraska or iowa as that is the area I'm from. I think it would just look more authentic then Quickies Speed shop or Mo Flo Engine and Machine Services. Thanks for the help in advance.

Re: original dealer names question
Check at you local library and see if they have city directories from that time. They would like auto dealers, might even get lucky and have one advertising in the book with a logo. another source for city directories is ancestry.com but it takes a subscription. Your local library also should have microfishe files of old newspapers from that time. you could look for ads for dealers, probably on a Thursday or Sunday, those are the big advertising days. I use the city directories and microfish newspaper files to establish chains of business occupancies.
