Turbocharger power at rear wheels
Well obviously big hp and torque values down low won't get a truck movin, itll just spin the tires. Do turbos create the same effect at a high speed? Or does it just cleanly pull the vehicle forward? I know with a roots blower or centrifigal, most of the time you mash the pedal the boost is instant and you will sit there and burn rubber, but what if you can't, or don't want to, do a suspension upgrade and use huge meats on the back. Is it possible to use a turbo set up on a truck and do 12.5 s or so on the drag strip?

There is turbo lag but it depends on the size of the turbo on how much lag it has if any.The good think about a turbo you can adjust the waste gate which can limit the max psi it runs.But being there isn't any bolt on kits it won't be cheap and don't trust anything from ssautochrome on ebay they sell junk.

You tune your engine and turbo setup right turning 12s smoking tire all the way down the strip would be a walk in the park. Up her in oxygen rich wash I've seen some turbo cars scoot. They take off like a moderate drag car then just disappear down the track.
With a turbo you can have 600rwhp and daily drive it. I know a guy with a 383 turbo Malibu wagon. He turns 11.8 in the 1/4 mile. And daily drives it. It's a full weight car with a sub box. And car seat lol Posted via Mobile Device

if you are looking at it purely from a quarter mile / traction stand point, then id say the turbo is the way to go. i have tuned and driven both turbo and supercharged vehicles and can tell you that the turbo is easier to launch because of the lack of low rpm boost (unless you purposly build boost of course). this setup will require you to do a bunch of fab work,where as a supercharger would be a bolt on setup. both will require lots of tuning! hope this helps.

yeah thats great, ive always like sleepers, and obviously i got myself a big ol' GMC, and i would rather not tub it, add a 4 link etc. It already as gobs of torque which will already cause a problem with traction as there is no weight in the back. Turbo might indeed solve that issue. Thanks

If it was me i would have the engine built to handle a turbo and go for it,As far as traction it can be done the afx cars in the 60s ran some fast times on leafs traction bars installed right and the right shocks can do a lot.
