Vented gas tank

When did Chevrolet come out with the vented gas tank?? Could use any advice on this.

I have a 1969 C-20 by all the thing i have researched it is a 1969 C-20! But the DMV want to classify it as a 1972. It has no VIN rivited to the drivers side door pillar, nor can i find a # on the frame. There are only a few thing different in the yrs and one is the vented gas tank.

Re: Vented gas tank

I thinking 69-70 still had the vented gas cap, 71 went to the closed cap, vapor recovery canister system. If you have a 69 Chassis Service Manual it shows the tank with just one line coming out of it. Maybe this would help you out at DMV. Seems weird you cant find the partial VIN on the frame. Good luck to ya'.

It all worked in my favor. Its reg now as a 1969 C-20 they could not find any thing that made it a 1972. So i win. Thanks for the advice.
