IMO stock look with subtle mods like suspension drop and better stopping/handling is ideal. My dream truck is a 68SWB Fleet with all factory mouldings and badging, 4/6 drop, 20inch corvette rallies, 4wheel discs, and power steering with quick ratio box, while retaining a factory interior and general look to some degree, you have somewhat the best of both worlds and even the purists can respect that.

Those are both original GM seats. The green one is totally original and on the blue we used NOS GM inserts (the pattern is wrong, maybe from a 69-70, but is close enough to the 72 pattern that most can't tell)

I have seen two different seats posted by members with a similar if not reproduction material. One was a saddle bench that looked like the blue material in my pic, and one was green buckets that looked like the green bench in my pic.

I can not remember the company name where they said the got it from. The name was Like SEM or something. Someone here will know the name of the company that sells auto fabric.

Every opinion on this board has merit, no matter how wrong it is!! I will be starting my build soon and will probably get flamed by stockers for some of the stuff I do, even though I consider it to be very close to stock. Maybe someone will see what I do and think I'm full of ****, and it may teach them what they would never want to do. Sometimes you gotta see it to know what it's gonna look like in the end. Most of the time I get more benefit from an opinion that I disagree with because it shows you what NOT to do. I have no pics to post yet, but I love looking at all the trucks and ideas on here for the knowledge of what could look good, or bad. And, the original thread starter said he wasn't decided on which way to go yet, which is all the more reason to show different ideas of what STOCK means to some of us. I say bring 'em all on. I have to agree with phat tony. Yep this sites mission statement includes "Forums dedicated to the preservation, restoration and customization of all Classic Chevy and GMC Trucks" And there is space to appreciate what folks have done.

IMHO that place is not in a stock truck thread. A thread for the stock guys, is just that.. stock stuff.. no holes cut in dashes, no thumpin amps, no rubberband tires, no slamming stuff etc. Stock is stock... how stock depends on how insane you are

If you went into a show in the concours resto category with 20s on.. they would laugh and deduct points. Is it because they hate 20s? nope.. its because it does not go in that category.

Not tryin to ass on anyone, but a stock thread is for stock trucks..

Hey guys, Thanks for all the pictures of ur trucks. I have decided to go back Original with the truck, all the way down to the drum brakes. Started tearing it apart last weekend. Super stoked about get her back to the way it was new. Thanks again, Josh

AS LIZ said... preservation, restoration and customization all comes down to personal choice. The Circuit Rider is 95% stock but I made changes so it will be more fun to drive. ie: a drop and disc brakes. But ... it can easily be put back to 100% stock if 70cstjr wants to do that some day. Good thread
