Will these tires & rims work with a 4.5/6 drop?

I currently have some 255/60/15 tires on 15x11 rims with 4 inch backspacing. Will these work with a 4.5/6 drop? I am assuming they would in the rear but what about the front? It previously had a 2/4 drop with no problems but I don't know if I can go lower

Thanks for you help

15x11? How was this confirmed?

Regardless, an 8" wheel w/4" of back-spacing will put your outer edge of the tire close to the fender lip in the front when steering so more than 10" is going to be that much worse. AND.... a 255 section width tire = 10.03" & would be stretched on a wheel >/= 10" (an 8" wheel would be better). For the rear, they would technically work but there would be a couple inches of tire/wheel beyond the fender lip.

What 'look' are you trying to achieve?

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Okay so I checked again and my tire size is 275/60/15 (not 255 sorry). I measured the 11" from one edge of the rim to the other. is this not a 15x11 inch rim? I would prefer to not have the tires sticking out beyond the fender lip.

Sorry I seem clueless to me, tire sizing is a new thing for me, especially on my first full restore

You need to subtract an inch if you're measuring from edge to edge. You have 10" wheels.

I'm pretty certain that a 10" wheel with a 275/60 will not fit if it's lowered 4.5" in the front.

What you have is a 10" wheel. Your 11" measurement comes from the tire bead lips on each side @ .500" which adds 1" to the actual wheel dimension (ex: an 8" wheel actually measures 9" from inside edge to outside edge).

Ok.... 275/60's on a 10" wheel is a better fit. It's a 28" tall tire which is going to complicate your goal of a 4.5" front drop. My gut feeling is it will rub w/4" of back spacing, that wide of a wheel, & that tire height. You'd have much better luck w/some 15x8's & those previously mentioned 255's or 245/60's.

What year truck? If it's the 72 in your sig, the rear back-spacing again is going to be real close & possibly rub. For a 10" wheel & the wider 71-87 rear end, I like 5-5.5" back-space to keep from buzzing the fenderlip. A narrower 67-70 12-bolt would help here (.750" narrower each side) but then you'd have to find some 5-lug swap axles.

Yeah, your wheel don't have the right backspace to work, and basically need more backspace to clear. Either way, a 275/60/15 will be too big up front, especially on a lowered truck.

Re: Will these tires & rims work with a 4.5/6 drop?

here is my truck. ( 4.5" front drop during the time of picture)

Tires = 275-60-15
Wheels = 15x8"

My truck could not be driven far, do to the tires rubbing on the finders with any slight bump.

To fix this I replaced my "cut springs" with aftermarket 1" drop springs.

So it went from 4.5" drop to a 3.5" drop and I have no rubbing issue.
(I have 2.5" drop spindles)

hope this info helps, more info in my build thread if needed.
