Can a 71 rad supt be made to work on a 68?
I had some scrap metal haulers come and take some stuff from my house the other day while I wasn't there. BIG mistake. They hauled off the rad supt to my 68 front end that I am putting on my 71. Is there a way to make the 71 rad supt work. I know I will need to remove the headlamp mounts that protrude and make the holes for the adjusters. Is there anything else, or is this just not going to work?

Re: Can a 71 rad supt be made to work on a 68?
I had one on my 67. Fit like any other. The headlights are the only problem. I could not get the lights to sit right. I tried a couple different things, but couldn’t get away from the lights bugging out or being out of alignment of the bezel. Long story short I found a 67/68 core and replaced it. If anyone else has had good results they might chime in, but I got tired of messing around with it.

Thanks for the reply. I am going to be looking for the correct support, but I am just getting back to work after being laid off, so money is a bit of an issue as well.

I wouldn't bother except the rad support I have is totally rust free and I am on a tight budget. Labor is cheap when it is for myself. The second link the earlier post is pretty good. It shows a lot on what needs to be done.

Yes you can, I've done a few. Just remove the '71 headlight buckets. The '68 buckets are underneath. If I remember corectly you just have to drill a tiny hole for the headlight holder spring.

Same here. I already have a clean 69 rad. sup. My 67 rad. sup is rusted under the battery tray pretty bad. It is not real easy for sure.
