Wheel Vintiques Quality
I recieved my new ralley wheels today from UPS. I opened the 4 boxes to inspect them and found that the rear 15x10s had a ugly seam showing on the lip of the wheels. The front 15x7s were fine. So I had to send the rears back. Anyone else have this problem with Wheel Vintiques?? Seemed like quality control had the day off when they made these.

Re: Wheel Vintiques Quality
I purchased a set of 15x8 and quality was great - no issues. Sounds like they are working with you to resolve the issue, of course be sure to post some pics of your ride once you mount up your new wheels.

Re: Wheel Vintiques Quality
I buy mine thru Summit that way they warranty them. I sent some 15x8 smoothies back twice because they were out of round. They wobbled when I put them on my rearend.

Re: Wheel Vintiques Quality
Where exactly was the seem? In the "barrel" of the wheel? Have any pictures?
They are know for being a quality wheel, but even the good manufacturers have hiccups some time. It is just important that they take care of it. I am not sure how they make the 10" wide rallys, but some wheels have outer that are welded together to get the extra width. Not normally the case with a 10" wheel, but that might be what is going on here. |

Re: Wheel Vintiques Quality
Yea, I can see the legitimate fuss with that. Must have been a Monday or a Friday wheel. Monday they had a hangover from the weekend, or they were in a hurry to get out on a Friday. Summit will make it right, they are good folks.

Re: Wheel Vintiques Quality
The paint flaked off my 15x10's with a year, I had not even put a trim ring on them or had them on the road ! I have since had them blasted and powder coated ,

Re: Wheel Vintiques Quality
I just got my four wheels. I ordered 15x8s and 15x10s and received four 10s! I also bout them through a distributor and am hopeful they'll get me corrected fast as It took over six weeks to get these.
Mine also have that icky seam with rather poor finish work. I got bare steel however, so I can clean them up before I paint. I've also seen many cases where people complained that they didn't run-out very well. I plan on checking these over closely before I paint them or mount tires on them.

Where were the rims manufactured? If it was china, you cant complain to much , that's a good job for chinese grinding!

Re: Wheel Vintiques Quality
I know that Summit sells Wheel Vintique wheels "cheaper" than if you buy direct from Wheel Vintiques. I bought mine direct from Wheel Vintiques with no problems at all. With that being said, could Summit be getting WV seconds, or blemmished wheels that didnt make the grade or pass QC at WV?

Re: Wheel Vintiques Quality
Exactly what I was wondering J Knight. Summit has great customer service and fast shipping. Looking forward to the next pair. If it happens again Ill call the owner of Wheel Vintiques and hear what he has to say.

Re: Wheel Vintiques Quality
what annoyed me with the whole Jegs vintique wheels is that their rallye wheels are like corvette wheels and not actual truck wheels i did have an issue with the weld too i sent them back i can get good regular rallye wheels from the swap meet next month

Re: Wheel Vintiques Quality
Heres my follow up. I sent the rear 15x10s back to Summit then they shipped out another pair. The new pair was worse and looked like crap. I called Wheel Vintiques and discussed it. They said that shouldnt have happened. I know that wheels get the seams smoothed out when chroming or powder coating. However their wheels are painted, not powdercoated like I thought. Their quality control as far as Im concerned sucks. Wheels had grinding marks every where but the seam and had bubbles in the paint. WV said they could build me flawless wheels and told me to get with Summit. After that, Summit said WV Couldnt promise me new wheels in time for the show Im going to in 2 weeks. I sent all 4 ralleys back to Summit for a full refund. Summit Racing has excellent customer service and very fast shipping, but Wheel Vintique just lost me as a Customer. Considering I used to work for American Racing Wheels, I know a little bit about the wheel biz. I talked to Wheel Smith and they build the same wheels at a higher cost, but guaranteed me a quality wheel if I wanted them. They even offered to show me the shop where they custom build each wheel to your order.

Re: Wheel Vintiques Quality
try this place http://www.trudesignwheel.net/
I had them build me some custom hubcap wheels to my specs, cost about $600 powdercoated any color. They use a GM center and a new hoop whatever width to whatever backspacing you want.

Re: Wheel Vintiques Quality
I talked with my distributor and they've had good experience with WV. They said that they'd get my 8's out ASAP with a call-tag to return the 10's. In the meantime, I mounted each one individually on a rotor/spindle and checked them for run-out. All but three were as close to true as I could tell with a scribe mounted to a rest. I didn't use a dial indicator or anything that precise. One however, was clearly about .060" out on the outer bead. I'm not sure how big a deal that is, but it's one of the two that I'll be sending back. I'm not too jazzed about the seams. Mine don't look as bad as the ones pictured above and I'm painting them semi-gloss black for the "stock" look. I think they'll be fine for me. I'll update when I get the fronts.

Re: Wheel Vintiques Quality
jlsanborn.. saying, Im not too jazzed about the seems is like saying Im not too jazzed about the new dent in my truck. Seems shouldnt be there. They should have smoothed them out BEFORE they were painted and BEFORE they were boxed and shipped. Lazyness and poor quality is all I have to say about WV. Products are only as good as the employees building them. I went and ordered a set of American 5 spokes. For those who like the ugly seem or dont mind it, thats great. Just not for me.

Sorry to hear about your problems with WV. I've bought their wheels for my Square and 'Burb with complete satisfaction.
