That is a beautiful truck and Lost Wages you should be shot for even thinking of molesting it. Mudder needs to be shot too, but not until I find the keys to his truck!

1971Stepside---First off, BEAUTIFUL truck. Keep it just the way it is. If you could, post the casting number (pass. side, right behind dizzy about midway of block below side plate) along with the numbers on the distributor pad. I'll see what I can find if you post them. What size engine is it? Does the truck have the options list in the glove box? I was wondering the same thing about the pulley on the driver's side. Once again, great truck. Have fun with her.

WOW. Nice work man. Excellent score.

That's about the EXACT shape my dad's '67 was in when he up and sold it for $1000 after promising it to me when I was old enough to drive (you all know... the day I bled out my eyeballs, and called down the thunder and lightening on ole' dad for his sins), only his had an original 283 w/ 3 on the tree, and a wood bed. He even had the original caps...

Hang onto that baby. She looks like a sweetheart.

Looking at my 68 resto pack it leads me to believe that all 68 1/2 ton's had a smog pump. However 3/4 tons and up did not. My 68 has one and I've seen a few others around here with them. 1971Stepside,, We have to start a smog pump club!!

That truck is UNREAL! Is that original paint on it? Are there any factory markings on the firewall? You darn near stole it at anything less that $5K

I'll get the numbers off of it this weekend. I dug around underneath it last night and tried to access the extent of the rust (it is always worse than what you see with the first look). Anyway, the cab supports are pretty much shot, but the floor is very solid. It looks like the passenger rocker was replaced at sometime. The left inner fender has some rust on the bottom. The worst of it is inside the cab and it runs from about the dash straight down to the kick panel on the passenger side. It will all have to wait until the 71 is finished though...I don't need another project right now!

Yes, that is original paint. The passenger side bed has been repainted as it looks like a dent was removed from the front panel.

This is the fan shroud I've seen on the I6's (thanks to passthebuck for the pic). Also, I've see quite a few all stock trucks 67-72 and never a smog pump, either V8 or I6. Was the smog pump a 68 only deal?

I've seen puny little fan shrouds like that on some 6 cylinder trucks, but most didn't have one.....

Are you sure that is a missouri truck?? Was it garaged its whole life and never drove in the winter? Most missouri stuff needs rockers, cab corners, and floors.....

As I understand it the truck was garage kept it entire life until the original owner passed away. His daughter then got the truck (about four years ago) and it sat outside then. It is the cleanest truck I have ever seen in MO, but it does still have rust in it and needs work.

The original owner bought the truck new in Independence MO. I have all the annual inspection paperwork and there are some years that the truck was only driven 350 - 850 miles for the whole year!!

When I found that rust in the kick panel last night it kinda bummed me out a little, but hey she is 35 years old afterall and a lot cleaner than my 71 cab is/was.

I think smog pumps continued through 69 and to 70 perhaps. From what I have observed it seems like trucks that were equipped with heat risers lacked the smog pump. I have seen one or two 68's with heat risers so they may not all have had smog pumps. I think it's mostly that so few of them survive engine swap-outs and other upgrades. My neighbor has a 68 Impalla that had a 327. It has a heat riser and not a smog pump installed. I don't know if there are any hard and fast rules. It does sound like a 1/2 ton only thing according to what my resto pack says.
