Donor vehicle with positraction
Hey guys been thinking I would like to add a posi to my 65. Any suggestions on what vehicle, year, etc with posi would bolt in (complete axle)?

Re: Donor vehicle with positraction
1960-1972 C10/C20... track widths may slightly differ in some years but nothing major. Trucks have a unique rear suspension with the trailing arms and panhard bar, no other vehicle housing that I know of will swap without modification.
If you can't find a posi truck rearend, you can just swap the carrier out in your housing to a posi carrier, it is way easier than fabbing a different rear end housing to fit. |

Re: Donor vehicle with positraction
The only years of 5 lug 12 bolts that will bolt in will be the '71 and '72 12 bolts. These are also 1-1/2" wider overall. In my area I doubt I could find a '71-'72 12 bolt let alone one with a posi.
If it were me, I would go with the 5 lug conversion axles and either a good used posi from a '65-'82 truck 12 bolt, or a new aftermarket posi.
