I need to weld up that hole thing... what the heck is that for anyway? I don't think my 71 has one... or maybe I just never noticed it.

I know i would buy one. the same goes for you crazy L. i have always wanted to do a tilt front on my 71 shortstepwhen i get started on it. to bad you both don,t live around here . I would be looking over your shoulders every two seconds and bugging the **** out of you two. if anybody has any plans for either job i would be interested in purchasing them.

Thumbs up Nice job on the doors

Nice job on the doors man wish we could do that over here but it’s not possible.
I’m not sure how this is called in your country but here the cars need to be checked every year by a department of the DMV and they don’t accept these doors ,to bad but it sure looks nice
Keep up the good work.

Wow! I can't wait to see the doors swing. Putting suicide doors on a car/truck that never had them is very difficult. We're doing it with a 1940 Ford coupe right now. Lots of reinforcing from the new hinge side or you twist the body.
Looks like you're doing a fantastic job. Are the plans to make the hinges complex? I think we're using Hagan brand hinges. The set I'm using in my 34 is from Rocky Hing and they look just like yours. You saved a bundle.
Keep us updated!!!

The hinges were fairly easy to make. The hardest part was drilling out the 5/8" round rod. definitely requires a drill press.

heres a link to the PLANS on Ebay

and the striker goes in the door. I will be able to put the door solenoid in this area and everything will be contained and easy to get to.

hey Dirt Dobber ... are you planning on anymore structural support on the back side of the hinges? (above pic)

Just curious.

Yes, I'm going to strap it to the back and the floor. and I'm considering a piece of plate on the back of the jamb. I was impressed at how stout it feels welded up... I was pulling and pushing and the jamb never flexed.

legally, I can't sell the plans. but when I'm done I can put together something. I didn't follow the plans to the letter so I think I can draw up my own with out a legal issue. I will do it up in autocad and include the install in the jamb. The plans I bought on ebay were just for the hinge. I will have to fabricate the latch housing. I have taken a ton of pictures. Alot more than I have posted. and yes they are suppose to be universal
