Hollander shows the following could have a 400 2bbl engine:
70-76 Big Chevys (Implala, Caprice, etc)
74-76 Monte Carlo
74 Chevelle
75-80 Trucks/Blazers/Vans (GMC's also)
78-80 Suburban
75-76 GMC Sprint

Your best bet will be the big Chevys. In the big Chevys look for station wagons. I had a friend back in college that got a 400 out of a station wagon and put it in his 73 rally sport Camaro and could roast his tires all day long.

Back around 78/79 or so, I had a 74 Chevelle wagon as a dealer loaner. It had the 400 in it.

thanks for the info... I figured that the mid-70s boats would probably be a source, but wasn't aware that the trucks had em too....

Wasn't there a thread on how to identify a 400 recently...??? for some reason I don't have rights to use the search engine...

anyone else have this problem...???

Some 400's had two freeze plugs per side...some had 3 per side. The ones with 2 per side are more desirable...and get this, the 2 bolt mains are the better block because the four bolt mains were prone to crack where the outside bolt holes were drilled.

Where can you get the Hollander book from? It sounds like a goldmine!
