01 silverado 1500 rear calipers sticking
I just replaced my rear brake pads today and now both the calipers seem to be sticking a little. When I drive the truck around the block and get back home the wheels are real hot and you can smell the pads burning. but when I back up on a hill and put it in nuetral it will roll down the hill so they dont seem to be sticking real bad. I even put wd-40 under the piston boot and worked the piston in and out a few time, didnt help. This seems to be a problem on these trucks. I guess I need to replace both calipers???? anyone have and suggestions??

New pads will make a smell when "seating-in". Did you grease the caliper slide pins?
Rust can build up between the brake hardware/pad anti-rattle clips & caliper bracket Causing the pads to stick. |

I put a new set of calipers on from napa for 100 bucks for the set. No more problems, perfect now.

Re: 01 silverado 1500 rear calipers sticking
I had a very similar issue with my Mom-n-laws 99 S10 Blazer. Calipers stuck all the time, turned the rotors blue. I pulled a caliper and when I forced the piston back in with a c-clamp, rusty nasty brake fluid came out. I also replaced the calipers, lines, pads and rotors. I also just kept let the rear lines run fluid out constantly while keeping the MC full until I got clean fluid out. She doesn't drive it much and I assume moisture built up in the rears due to a damaged seal or something.
