My 82 shortbed
I started out wanting a 06 lancer evolution but unfortuantly my dad wouldnt allow me to get a car due to the fact he wanted me to be in something bigger for my first car. Lucky a friends bf had a 83 long bed which i liked and started to love these trucks. Started searching craigslist everyday looking for something that i could afford and this is what i ended up with and what started it all. My 82 shortbed from the start

Re: My 82 shortbed
Right away i began to do little things like cleaning up the wheels, anything to improve the look of the truck. had a lot of rust in the normal places but for the price i got it at wasn't bad. Had a 305 with aluminum weland high rise intake ,adapter with a 2 barrel carter carb, and chrome value covers.

Re: My 82 shortbed
Since i knew nothing about mechanics at the time with my uncles help i ordered a bran new holly 600 and began pulling off the old 2 barrel carter due to the fact the choke didnt work so i always had to wait for it to warm up or as soon as i pulled away i would stall out and just wanted to upgrade.

Re: My 82 shortbed
Its been getting me too and from work and school for over a year now. only have made minor changes like painting the gauge covers and bottom of the dash gloss black which i don't have pics of unfortuantly. Around that time i didnt think to take many. bought a dash cap and put it on to due to the fact the old one was all cracked up.

Re: My 82 shortbed
finally on Easter of last year i came across a 86 shortbed in good shape and for a decent price for it and all the parts that came with it. The guy even drove an hour to drop it off the same day. motor was partially apart when i got it and got it running the same night. This is it getting dropped off.

Re: My 82 shortbed
About 40 hours of degreasing and washing over and over again. Then sanding and more sanding the frame, inner fenders, fender wells, and motor were ready for painting. Heres a pic after i painted everything. motor went cast coat iron. painted intake and water pump along with the pullys and put them back on . And new altenator.

Re: My 82 shortbed
After that it sat at my uncles for a couple months over the summer. Was to busy having fun i didnt get to much done to it lol all was well till we hooked up the power steering and realized there were cracks by the motor mounts and around the power steering pump. Front horn would literally twist when turning the steering wheel sitting still. So finished hooking everything up and it was off to my house to get welded.

Re: My 82 shortbed
Began sandblasting around the cracks. didnt have a welder at the time so was waiting for my uncles friend to stop by with one. Realized the front left frame horn had been replaced before and didnt do the best job fixing it.
