Pictures of 1968 K20 Hubcaps needed
I have that darned old 68 K20 that I am putting back together...the wheels on it are not the same as my 72 K20...the 68 has these little 'clips' on the inner hub (to hold the caps on I presume?).
Show me some photos of your original K20 hubcaps please! Thanks guys! |

67 and 68 K series trucks never came with hubcaps from the factory, you could use the 69 and up style but they require the wheels with the nubs and not the clips.

No RPO 4wd hubcaps/wheelcovers for '68.

Re: Pictures of 1968 K20 Hubcaps needed
I see guys cut out the '68 3/4t hubcaps. Here's the original caps (center/Chevy 1/2t & right/GMC 3/4t and a truck with a hole cut in them:

Re: Pictures of 1968 K20 Hubcaps needed
Any of the earlier hubcaps work on the clip-type wheels. I was going to use the early-50s style, which are like baby moons w/logo,on the '71 short Stepside K/30 project I bailed on. I had a set of Clip-type 9.75 x 16.5s I was going to use. Here's some early-50s hubcaps (there's other styles) and an aftermarket clip-type wheel that came with painted baby moons:

Re: Pictures of 1968 K20 Hubcaps needed
I'm pretty sure the wheels came with the clips even though no hubcaps were available.

Re: Pictures of 1968 K20 Hubcaps needed
I always wondered if 67-68 4wds had a hubcap. Good info.

Re: Pictures of 1968 K20 Hubcaps needed
If you're not going with modifying hubcaps to work on front and don't like having clips, you can grind them off. I wouldn't,though. I'd leave those as they are and find newer wheels. Those clips are available, also. You see many trucks, going back to Napcos, that have had hubcaps added. It looks good and that's what I'd do.

Re: Pictures of 1968 K20 Hubcaps needed
I guess that I will need some of the white dog dish caps to cut up....the truck is plain jane white (and has loads of character in the paint). I want to ditch the split rims and go with the newer 16" that have nubs.
I never would have guessed that new trucks came without hub caps...I learn something new here almost every visit Thanks guys! |
