What do you think, will they work?

Man in the big brown truck dropped me off a set of Speedway Motors Fenderwell Headers. These were for a 55 Chevy but for $204.00 you can't beat the price. I know I am going to have to cut and weld some (too close to the tire and the steering shaft). In the pictures I have the cab sitting on the frame but its not in position, still needs to move forward and down alittle. I think if I cut these at the flange and angle them up a little it will clear both the tire and steering? What do you think? Any suggestions?

Convert to rack & pinion steering that will solve the steering problem. If you are using a magneto you could move the engine back some it would be better weight distribution and give you more room for the pulleys.

Right on. I'm gonna order the same set as this and now know what to expect. Thanks for posting. I think I'm gonna go with a sterring rod with small joints in it to get around the header. And I'm gonna be running a tall deck block with smaller tires so I think ill be ok with out modifying. Keep us posted on your fix. Thanks Curtis

Right on! Set her back(cut the cab for clearance on the heads /covers)...been there, done that Rack & pinion, or U joints on a Hiem setup should clear the headers? You will love all the setback that you can get, with that blown rat! best of fun,crazyL

It looks like you have the motor mounts all the way forward? Like the others said I would move it back as far as you can. Then use some steering u joints to get the steering shaft around the headers

I think they are the same headers both made by Patriot.

Well they are not a bolt on and run set of headers. After getting the cab set in the right place and lining everything up, I needed to cut both headers and raise them. The passenger side was sitting right on top of the tire. I split the underside of the header tubes a raised the header until it cleared the steering shaft and was half way between the tire and cab floor. I also ended up cutting about 3" off the collector tube and angled it in toward the frame. I will get them set the way I want them and them take them to be patched and tig welded.
