Bought myself a "New" hauler
I know this is not a 67-72, which dad and I have many of, but I just couldn't help bragging on my latest acqusition.
SOLD!!! (To me!) I caught it last night 14 minutes after he posted it, emailed him and he responded back at 11pm. I called him this AM at 7, done deal by 10am. Early bird catches the worm! http://austin.craigslist.org/cto/2995168770.html Last edited by WIDESIDE72; 09-14-2012 at 03:58 PM. |

Re: Bought myself a "New" hauler
I am tapped out! I stopped on the way back from buying the truck and filled it up $3.64/ gal for diesel...$95! P.O. said 14-15 mpg, so it won't get driven much. It is replacing a 93 GMC K2500 4x4 x cab with a 350 gas and NV4500, 10mpg so it is a wash money wise but has 2 more doors, newer and will pull ALOT more weight.
The truck has 285 75 r 16 BF Goodrich All Terrain tires, three worn out and one new. I am considering swapping the tires off my 93 GMC K2500 that will be sold soon. It has 4almost new Cooper All Terrain 245 75 r16 (one size up from what the 93 had new, but I believe stock size for the 2002) Last edited by WIDESIDE72; 05-06-2012 at 12:13 AM. |

Re: Bought myself a "New" hauler
Found a local seller with a set of 285 75 16 falken rocky mountain a/t on steel Pro Comp 16 x 8 rims less than 500 miles for $450 I was looking at new load range e tires and they are too expensive! P.O. of this truck replaced one (?) BFG at at $285 (!) I have set of nearly new 245 75 16s on my 93 k 2500 but these 285 are too big for it!

Re: Bought myself a "New" hauler
The Falkens turned out to be Load range E (great) and 265, not 285 (great to me as well, as I wanted the stock size back on the truck). I got them for $400, went across the street (literally) to Discount Tire and had them mounted on my truck for $60. Their warranty and balance rotation is transferrable. Now I have almost brand new tires w/ road hazard, life time balance etc for $460. I plan to sell the 285 75 16 and Ford wheels locally on Craigslist

Re: Bought myself a "New" hauler
The truck rides and drives tremendously better with the new tires. It pulled to the left before and the speedo was 5 mph slow. The PS also felt sluggish with the big tires. I am much happier with the OE size!

Re: Bought myself a "New" hauler
Photos of the new truck and dad's reg cab Duramax. It is also an LB7 curently270k miles. It has an Eagle liftgate. It had new batteries and tires and broken AC. I found it on C List as well a couple of years ago. He got it for $4,000 and spent $700 on a new compressor lines and drier and I charged the AC for him.

Re: Bought myself a "New" hauler
Sold the 285 75 16 BFG locally and found a used Diablosport Predator tuner and K&N FIPK. I have the "mileage and towing" tune" installed. It made a WORLD of difference on throttle response. We'll see how much the mileage improves. First tank before mods was 15 mpg. I also fixed the broken tailgate handle and bezel. Full exhaust and tinted windows to follow as $$$ allows. I need to sell some junk! HAHA

Re: Bought myself a "New" hauler
I was leaving my place in the country Where I keep my "junk" the other day after installing the tune and k&n. Some high school kids in an early 90's dodge cummins Reg cab 2wd with a big stack in the bed pulled out in front of me from a side road, then poked along. I flipped the high beams at him to let him know to "p**s or get off the pot" as my dad would say. He dropped his down a gear or two (standard) and the kid on the pass side stuck his arm out the window and waved "goodbye". Funny thing was, all that happened was a bunch of smoke poured out. It was a straight road and we were doing about 45 mph. I hit my left signal and put her to the floor. I passed him like he had the e brake on! I looked down about the time I flipped the right signal on to get back in the right lane and glanced at the speedo to see 100 mph! ( uh oh!) I backed off the pedal and he came barreling up behind me several seconds later. A few miles later we were in town and they pulled up next to me, motioning for me to roll down the window. I did and the kid on the pass side yells"what you got in that thing!?!?" I said "duramax with a tow tune and k&n intake, stock exhaust" He said "damn that thing runs, especially for a crew cab 4x4 with a big ol ranch hand on front!"
