Oasis Compressor vs Engine Mount

Alright, I've been looking around I'm not finding the answers I'm looking for, but then again the internet has made me lazy...I'm not sure if this falls under suspension or wiring - move if needed.

I have a York 209 engine mount, but I need all the goods (mount, hook it up, clutch, etc). I saw a nice Oasis on CL and was thinking that might be easier to hook up. I know guys like Dino run them, but I also read about their amp draw.

How do you combat the amp draw or am I better off getting the gear for my engine mount? I currently have 2 old compressor that take about 15min to fill my 6 gal tank...it's not going to work that way much longer.

Thanks!

Re: Oasis Compressor vs Engine Mount

I have personally viewed dinos oasis set ups on all his trucks and can tell you that he runs a minimum of 2 EXTRA optima batterys for each oasis. the yellow tops. and he trickle charges them every once in a while.

Re: Oasis Compressor vs Engine Mount

I have an oasis in my 63 suburban. I think it is the best compressor you can run. It fills my 5 gallon tank fast. I have a 140 amp alt. When the compressor kicks on it does not phase it. It runs for such a short time it is not a problem if my alt couldnt keep up. The only down fall is the truck needs to be running when it runs. I would buy it.

Re: Oasis Compressor vs Engine Mount

Thanks for the information... I here more about the draw from these, even it's short. I'm wondering if a capacitor help with the draw (like what's used with a big audio system)? To story some power for the compressor to suck juice from before drawing the alternator or battery...

Only working while running is fine, especially if it's a short time. I'm hesitating on the engine mount because i'm thinking about an LS this winter, so I'd have to mount one twice....

Re: Oasis Compressor vs Engine Mount

a york compressor is an old ac compressor...ford, volvo and other vehicles used to use them. my issue with that the effort in mounting one and getting the right clutch plate to have it work with my motor. even more concern is spending the money on it for this motor only to swap different one this winter.

the oasis compressors use york compressor with an electric motor, but are more like a standard compressor. however, their motors have a lot of amp draw.

my question should have been, is the cost to hook up an oasis more or less than the parts for a en engine mount compressor? since most guys run one or the other, i was more curious to the parts needed to run an oasis, since there is already lots of info from running a york off a motor...
