Bolt sizes
I just acquired a new project that's a 47 chevy. Other than a little rust the only major problem is its in pieces with no hardware to put it back together. I'm wondering if there is a chart or something that would tell me the different sizes I would need. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Bolt sizes
Pick up a factory assembly manual , it will help with the details and has the specs.
You can get on from many suppliers like http://www.fillingstation.com |

Re: Bolt sizes
I just saw a bolt kit somewhere that had every bolt washer and nut for the whole truck. It was like 315 bucks or something like that. A little pricy but might make your life easier.

Re: Bolt sizes
Totally stainless makes a kit that has all the bolts.

Re: Bolt sizes
I'm at work so I can't look in it but I believe that the assembly manual That G&R's57GMC (hey I got it right) suggested does have the proper size and length for all of the fasteners on these trucks. 30 bucks for one of those and another 30 bucks for the factory service manual sounds like a lot of money and in a lot of ways it is but the payback comes quickly when you can flip the book open sitting beside the truck in the garage and read and see how to do something.
The cost of those kits isn't all that bad when you start adding up every bag of bolts you end up buying at the hardware store plus the gas it takes to run to the store every time you need a dozen more bolts to get part of the project done. |
