paging N2TRUX

I need some help with my AOL set up. I recently bought ride techs AOL kit and need to notch my frame before I mount my bag brackets. My problem is that it looks as though a bolt on c notch would force me to mount my brackets too far away from the axle. A "homemade" notch would solve this problem, but I don't have the knowledge or equitment to weld.. Any ideas? Of course I am open to anyone's opinion but I know N2TRUX has had experience with ride techs AOL kit.

LOL. I thought the same thing.
Off Topic: why did you destroke your motor? More power or better MPG? Also, are you going to become a vendor? I'd like to see the projector and other items you referenced.

On topic: can you show us where you are having the issue? There are many vendors you can buy bolt-on notches from, if welding is an issue.

Re: paging N2TRUX

Welcome to the forum 82swb. I am trying to get a visual of what your concerns are. I "think" what you are questioning is the bolt on notch would not leave a clean mounting surface directly behind the axle where you want to mount the upper bag brackets.

If this is correct, you will need to find a practical solution. When we did my system, a bolt in notch was never considered since the shop builds all their C-notches in house. The weld in design left the frame clean in the area needed to install the upper bracket.

In your case, it will require that you consider having your bolt in welded in after its installed, or make mods to how the upper bracket mounts. You might be able to drill the bag bracket to clear the bolt head, or run spacers to move it away from them.

Oh yeah, INSIDIOUS '86 lets see your air suspension? "Sorry couldn't resist"....

Re: paging N2TRUX

I stroked it to make a big brother of the dz302 basicly. Started the build when I was 13 with intentions of something like a Camaro with lighter weight and aerodynamics unlike our big barns going down a road haha but yes I will be a vendor as soon as testing I done on my lights and such. The projectors will be on an availability basis though but some quality hid housings will produce some cutoff so other drivers won't be blind

Sorry n2trux. All static drop for me

Re: paging N2TRUX

Thank you for replying. I might be over thinking this. I have just researched some c notches installed on 73-87 frames and noticed that the end of the notch is at the indentation for the rear shock on the driver side. I found a local mobile welding company that has experience with frame rail mods, so ill give them a shot. Thank you all for replying.
