alright so i got a race coming up this friday and was wondering is it better to drive in D or low gears (1,2,3) also tow haul on or off

Need a little more info . 1/8th or 1/4 mile ? Description of the truck ? Heads up ? What rear end gear ? With a freeway gear in the 1/8th you may only make a 1-2 shift .
It's great Houston has safe street car nights at both tracks . Have fun . If this is at HMP you may get to see some fast cars run as Saturday is a huge grudge race with almost 20 locked races . 2 day Bracket race @ RPR in Baytown also .

1/4 mile 2001 chevy silverado 5.3 stock im not sure of the rear end gear ..... and another question i raced a 99 silverado a couple weeks ago and beet him by a long run but this past week he challenged me to a rematch and the only thing he added was a tank of nos so im wondering how badly am i going to get beat?

Welp Firday is here and probably too late, but the trans is computer controled so not a lot you can do without over-reving the motor. I'd say push the tow/haul button and mat the throttle. Seems to 'feel' like it gets my 04 on the freeway a bit quicker.
NOS is instant HP,, if it's a dry system I think you can add as much as 75HP pretty easily. That's monumental increase in the world of stock 5.3 trucks.

ahahaha well i got good news/bad news ....... so i raced him and about half way down the track i heard loud bang followed by engine guts all over the track ( his engine blown) you guys should have seen the grin on my face i feel bad for the guy but honestly he should have known it was coming, as for me i think i over revved my engine and now the truck feels like its holding back, any thing i should check on?
