The hub and bearings come as one unit. Once you remove the bolts the hub assembly should come right out by tapping from the rear of the knuckle. I guess you could rent an axle puller, slide hammer to yank it out.

3lb hammer to the edges of the wheel flange, a few taps on the spindle won't hurt ether.

Re: help! front hubs ,02 silverado 2wd
Thanks guys.....looks like I need to rent the slide hammer! After the bolts came out, I thought I would "thump" it a couple times & be done (wrong)! If it takes heat, I guess that I will remove the spindles, & burn em outside crazyL

Re: help! front hubs ,02 silverado 2wd
Ive done 6 or so sets of from hubs on 99-06 2wd trucks and Ive never came across one that was stuck in the spindle! Then again, they were probably all southern trucks.

Re: help! front hubs ,02 silverado 2wd
Thats what the guys at Oreillys said I rented the slide hammer, but it did not budge them! Got the knuckles knocked off, & will lay em outside, cook em with the old "smokewrench"& pound em out with the air hammer. Time to go ahead with ball joints, while its apart. Dont let anybody tell you that drilling the rivets in the lower ball joints is any fun Just another 10 yr old midwest truck, & the firestick is my best freind.........crazyL

Re: help! front hubs ,02 silverado 2wd
Will the hub turn on the spindle? If so I cannot see what is holding it in place.
Confirm you have removed the wheel, then taken the dust cap off, removed the cotter pin and removed the nut on the end of the spindle? I would also have removed the brake caliper before trying to remove the hub. Confirm by hub you mean the assemble that has the brake disk attached to it?

Re: help! front hubs ,02 silverado 2wd
Yes, its all back together now. It did require some heat & some heavy hammer action to remove the hubs tho! crazyL
