Odd question....
I just bought a 68 long bed and i pulled the tranny today and noticed a tag on the left side that says ct-68-18133 and above that it says 299. I know its a 400 turbo but does the 68 stand for the year?

Re: Odd question....
Apparently so. Here's the one on my 69. It's on the right/passenger side though.

Re: Odd question....
299 = julian build date, about October 6th, 1968
ct-68-18133 Chevrolet truck 1968 s/n 18133 BTW Does your trans have a partial VIN stamped in either of these locations?

I can check to see if there is a partial VIN on the driver side in about a week. Good info! |

The VIN coding would be nice to know if it is there. Not sure it adds any value but it would be nice to know you have the as built trans..
