House Plumbing - water leak

Gentlemen -

I'm on about my 4th or 5th iteration trying to fix this plumbing leak.

The situation is related to an outside hose bib; there's a section of black flexible pipe, which transitions to a white plastic push in fitting, then to the copper.

It's leaking right at the black pipe/push in fitting. First thing I noticed was the old hose clamp was rusty and nasty, so I cut it off and replaced it with a new clamp and torqued it down. No good.

Next up - let's try TWO hose clamps, right? No good.

So - somewhere in there I decided to try the copper colored permatex RTV and let it set up overnight (24 hours) - still no good.

What's the professional way to fix this? Do I need heat to soften up the black plastic?

Can you try to cut of some of the end of the black pipe and re-install everything to it? Maybe its cracked on the bottom side, out of sight.

I hate plumbing.

Disclaimer first I am no professional plumber just grew up poor in the hog business and messed with lots of that black pipe.

Your best bet is if you have enough black pipe cut off an inch or two and heat it then 2 hose clamps also if you can put a brass barb fitting in instead of the white plastic I usually got along better. Seems after time the plastic ones crack and the fitting will leak over time.

like above said u should have a barbed fitting/adapter for the black tubing try the sprinkler area

Yep brass.

Definately brass, plastic doesn't dig i.to the plastic pipe and always end up being the culprit. Look at shark bite fittings also, i do not know if they are intended for underground use though.

Yes cut it back if you can add a brass fitting and a bit of heat before using 2 clamps.
