Pistol type grease gun, which one.
I'm looking for a good pistol type grease gun. I don't need a powered one, just a pistol type that will last. Any recommendations? Know of one still made in the USA?
I'm thinking about one of these: Alemite 555e made in China... $47 shipped http://store.rstenstrom.com/product.php?productid=16388 Lincoln 1134 made in India... $40 shipped http://www.bestbuyautoequipment.com/...lin1134-03.htm Thanks everyone! |

I've been using the Lincoln. It has been working great for me for a couple of years. I added another hose to give added reach.
I can't speak about the other one. |

The shop here uses a Stewart Warner (Alemite 4041-B2). The gun has been in service for
decades without a hitch and parts are still available. Heavy but very durable, professional grade tools. I see most Alemite grease guns are running roughly $30-$50 on eBay. According to the Alemite website, their grease guns are manufactured in Tennessee. . |

Re: Pistol type grease gun, which one.
You may want to check eBay or locally for a good used gun. They're fairly simple, and may only require a couple of seals replaced, as long as the various threads aren't messed up because someone crossthreaded them.
I have an older LubriMatic that I've had for many years. It was made in the USA, but I suspect like many manufacturers, they've moved production offshore. |

Ordered the Lincoln. I'm still going to be on the look out for a good used one and rebuild it like raceman6135 said. Thanks everyone!

Re: Pistol type grease gun, which one.
I feel yer pain.... I had a Plews for years, bought it back in the 80's. No leaks, no hassle prime when I changed the cartridge... It finally died, so I replaced it with another Plews. The new one is cheap, leaks goo in the floor all the time and is a pig to get primed after a cartridge change. The threads on the old gun's tube were good and coarse and deep so it assembled easily, the new one, they are thin and shallow and are a pain to screw together. Truly the example of how quality has died. Folks say we traded quality for price. I would rather pay more for something that lasted, than have to buy 3 and 4 of something.
