Any tricks to removing the gas sending unit on a 1970 Blazer?

I just dropped the gas tank on my 1970 Blazer to change the sending unit. I cant get the unit to spin and lift out. I do not have the tool to remove it. Are there any tricks I can try to get it out?

Never mind, got it. Just took a little more persuasion with the mallet than I was giving it.

Having looked inside the tank, looks like I will be dropping the tank again in the near future to replace it... pretty rusty inside. At least it will go a lot faster next time.
