ok, i've got 4'' of drop in the rear using belltech's hanger kit. what can i add to this to get a 6'' drop? or should i just go ahead and take them off, and put on a flip kit, which would give me 6'' right there? i've got 2'' spindles in the front now, and i'm gonna buy some 2'' springs which will put me at 4'' in the front, and now i just need to figure out what to do in the rear. want a 4/6

Also, is it possible to mix and match like western chassis with belltech, lets say belltech spindles, with western chassis springs..


and.. would there be much NOTICEABLE difference in 4'' and 4 1/2'' in the front?

A 4" drop shackle and hanger kit will only go 4", nothing you can do to that. You could change leaf springs and leave the shackle and hanger kit, but this is mucho money. I would put the stock hanger back on and install a flip kit and c-notch. Put the shackles in the shortest hole for 6" of drop. You wouldn't exactly have to put a c-notch, but it will hit on dips. With a 6" drop using a flip kit and shackles, you end up with about 2-3/4" between axle and frame.

also, can i use the belltech spindles with the western chassis front springs?

What would happen if i left the shackles and hangers just how they are, and installed the flip kit?

You don't have two holes in your shackles? You do have a Belltech hanger and shackle kit?

Yes, you can use any spring. They are independent of the spindle.

If you add a flip kit like you have it now, my figures would make it 9" of drop. To use a flip kit, and end up with 6", you need to put the stock hanger back on and use a 2" shackle. If the shackles you have now are 2" longer than stock, you are OK.

hey 2tankin79 I have a rear belltech 6in drop flip kit for a 73-87 blazer or jimmy part number is 6852 that I bought off of ebay about 2 weeks ago they look pretty new you can get an idea what they look like on zmotive.com if interested let me know I will try to send you some pics you can have them for what I paid for them.

I looked at my shackles tonight, and i do have 2 holes. so, what i'm gonna do is go to performancesuspension.com and get a 5'' rear flip kit for $59.95, and front springs for $104.95. These are the absolute cheapest prices i could find, and dont seem that expensive at all. There for, i am going to do what you (swervin) told me to do, and go with the stock hanger and put a flip kit on it. The C-notch will come later, seein as how i drive it very rarely anyhow. what i will do is get the stock hangers, flip kit, and springs, then lower the shackles down to the 1 inch hole, put the stock hangers on, then the flip kit. 6'' of drop, correct?

then: my belltech 2'' spindles that i have now, and a pair of 2'' western chassis springs. woo, its all commin together now

performance suspension says i will have to buy a c-notch, and lowered shocks.. is this true? i'm not gonna buy the c-notch right now, but i will later.. i dont drive it enough right now to worry about it... but the shocks? do i actually have to have these?

I don't guess you would have to have them, but the stock shocks won't work. So, yes, you do need them.

well, already being lowered 2/4, i didnt install this, i bought the truck with it, could they have used the stock shocks? or would they have had to buy new shocks when they lowered it?

My guess is the truck already has shorter shocks. If it doesn't have shock extenders bolted to the bottom of the rear shock hangers, the PO probably put shorter shocks on.

Like Mike said, you don't "have to" put the C-notch on right now, but you may as well. Sooner or later you are going to want it on. If you know a "good" welder, they can build a notch, and box the frame for about the same money as a bolt in notch...

On the rear, you can look under and see them. They will be brackets that bolt to the bottom om the stock shock mount. "extend" it. This allows a longer shock to be used on a lowered truck, and gets your shock angle back into the proper perspective...
