My 72
Just wanted to drop a line showing off my new 72 and possibly get some help/advice. I had a long bed 70 back in high school and always wanted a short bed. Well, now I have it. It has a 350 with a three on the tree. Absolute gas to drive. Truck had been lowered and 20 inch wheels and tires. They are starting to grow on me. Im hoping to find more back story to this truck. Have a couple of contacts to make to see if the truck really was a parts delivery or not. Interiror has been redone and really think the bed has been replaced. All else looks original and truly believe the odomoter at 88 thousand is correct. As for the help/advice. Had the truck shipped home and in transit, they wrecked it. So, I need to replace the right hand bed side, trim, right hand mirror and tailight trim. I'm looking for old take offs. I want to keep the look of the truck as is for now. I like the "patina" look. Once I find the back story, if I can, then I will restore to the original condition. Hope you like it, cuz i sure do. Thanks also ahead of time for any help in locating parts.

Re: My 72
Nice first post. I have seen the truck before as well. It would be a shame to cover up all that patina with a nice glossy paint job, but its your truck and don't let anyone tell you what to do with it.

I think I saw it at Goodguys in Des Moines Iowa last year. What state did you buy it from if you don't mind my asking?

Re: My 72
I have seen it on eBay too, it had rallys on it for a while (before it was lowered of course, it has been a while ago. Maybe two years or better)

Welcome to the board!
Watch for teeitup selling original parts in the 67-72 parts board. He is the parts supplier for many of the projects you see on this board.

Re: My 72
Thanks for all the responses and complinments. As for where I bought the truck, I purchased it out of Maryland. Actually, yes it was on ebay. It was up on ebay a few months ago, and I let it slip away. However, it resurfaced on ebay. The guy who bought it out of Nashville TN earlier in the year wanted to put a LS1 in it. He just couldn't bring himself to do it, and wanted to find it a home where it would be appreciated for what it is. That is the reason I purchased it, to keep it the way it is. Truck runs and drives great. Again, the only issue is the damage from the transport company. I will keep the name to myself for now, sorry. Want the truck fixed and you never know who is on the intertube. HA HA. I will post pics of the damage, but the right hand bed side needs replaced. As for what I kinda know so far, I think up till Feb 2011 the truck was parked for 17 years. Thank you hayhauler for the tip on see10. I have a message off to him. Im new to the forum thing, so if I ran a little long, sorry. Thanks for welcoming me the way you all did and thank you for having me in the group. I have a new thing to consume my time looking at all the cool sick rides everyone has, and I'm just so glad to be back in the family of the 67-72 group
P.S. Yes the wheels are Coys. Still up for grabs on the 20s, kinda more of an original type guy, but I tell ya, they work on this truck. |

Re: My 72
Love this truck. Every time it's been listed people bring it up so a LOT of others like it too
Pretty sure that logo was added recently....I saw a for sale ad before it was on there sometime in the last two years... I will try to look up some other links on it later when I'm not so busy but if you search on the patina thread it's on there as well...

Re: My 72
Im hoping it was not added, but life is what you get. Thanks for the pics. I actually found those on the web when it was for sale in NC. I contacted that dealer and got another name to follow up on. That is where it was noted that up until a few months before Feb 2011 it was sitting for 17 years. I know I may sound a lil anal trying to find all this info, but inquring minds want to know. Thanks again all. Off to the first unofficial show with it this mornin.
