If mine is still together and possibly looking better than it does now I might try for that. But I would have to drive mine, just cause I want too lol

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
I wanted to go last year, the wife said "sure, but we have to tow it. I'm not riding in that thing for several days without a reclining seat." Another problem for me is the timing. November roads going north can be pretty bad, especially towing. I'm afraid the only way my truck is going to AZ is if I'm already living near there.
So the alternate plan is to go there by air, buy one of those rust free unmolested original chevy classics that Dino always seems to find, bring it to his party for a quick suspension upgrade thrash, then store it there somewhere until spring when it can be transported home.

I am seriously game for it if we can find a double car trailor. Let me know if you are really thinking about it.

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
i am really going to do it, is it Gallup that some of you are worried about ? do they have snow that early in November ? I have been stuck in Gallup before at the end of December but i thought the middle of November would be clear, anyone live that way that could shed a little light on this for us ?

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
If you drop down to Interstate 10 on I20 from Dallas (or elsewhere) you would avoid all of the high altitude on I40 and coming down from Flagstaff there are a lot of 7 percent grades. Would all be avoided if just went in on 10.

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
I have 20' enclosed and 18' open trailers with a quadrasteer 2500 at my disposal. I'd rather drive one of my rigs, but it wouldn't hurt to throw a driver on the trailer and swap in case of a roadside emergency. We've done this cruising to Goodguys KC a couple of times.

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
I agree, but the scenery is soooo much nicer coming from up north. I-10 is just boring. The nice thing about I-10 is the higher speed limits. If you DO go that way, watch for cops from Ft. Stockton to El Paso (especially Van Horn), again in Las Cruces, and from Tucson to Phx. I make the trip to Houston about once a year, and those are always the bad spots.

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
You got that right!!!! NO comparison between I10 and 40. Although New Mexico does have some of that "Land of Enchantment" thing about it on 10. Flagstaff is one of my favorite places in this country and beautiful to boot. And its a LOOOOOONG way from Ft Stockton to El Paso if something goes wrong. I blew a rear tire on my Powerstroke in Ft Stockton on a Sunday when I was pulling the car hauler fully loaded and had to limp all the way to El Paso on a 10 year old spare that was dry rotted because there is no where to even dream of getting a tire. Talk about a crappy feeling! (It is something like 250 miles through some of the most desolate country in the nation besides the highway cutting through it, so empty that the Davis Mountains which aren't far off of the road are considered to be the darkest spot in America)
