My new friend Olive 72
Well I joined the site about a year ago, and finally found something close to what I have been looking for. A pretty close to stock 1972 Cheyenne LWB A/C truck with factory PS/PB. Truck was originally a white top with medium olive paint, and has been resprayed just once from what I can tell.
Here is my thread in the Welcome Area. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=527948 I have had a few chevy's in my short 30 year old life, started with a 69 Chevelle, to a 85 IROC Camaro, 65 Malibu 2dr post, a 63 nova (still got it) and now my new best friend Olive 72. Picked up some 15x8 5 lug truck rallys this past weekend from craigslist, had them blasted and then painted them with rustoleum. Shined up the caps with some steel wool. Picked up some nearly new 31 x 10.5 tires with some 6 lug truck rallys for a good price, had the tires swapped to my rims and wa la...here she is before and after. Some may not like this large of tire on a 2wd 1/2 ton, but I've always been a fan of something meaty that fills up the wheel well. I am still deciding which direction I want to go with the truck, but for now I need to get some hot start problems figured out. I have a million questions about this trucks so I better get to reading...stay tuned... |

Re: My new friend Olive 72
Thanks, yeah it's in good shape, I think the 93K miles are originally although I haven't been able to check the numbers on the block to see if it did indeed come with the truck. We're pretty spoiled out here in CA as far as rust goes, that tiny spot on the passenger lower fender is about all it has..
All mouldings are there, I plan to clean them up a bit, respray the top and lay the wood grain decal strips on the lower and tailgate trim. I need to find the best vendor to buy those from..Classic Ind, LMC, etc. Also gonna put the woodgrain decal on the dash, glovebox and door panels...I really like that look. Any recs on budget friendly repops or good used originals that I could clean up are appreciated.. |

Re: My new friend Olive 72
Here's a few of the Nova from a couple years ago...have since put all the locks in, added some of the original fender trim, switched to the old CA black and yellow plates, and added disc brakes with late model dual reservoir master...
Got any pictures of your custom BBQ trailer? I would definitely be interested in seeing that. I just ordered a new Char Broil CB940X....I think I am addicting to grilling and smoking as much as cars/trucks now... |
