Re: what do i need to put power brakes on

I believe Norm is looking to just power his drum brakes, not switch them to disc.

If so, here's what I just did...
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=528378

In summary:
- brake booster from an 88-98 chevy truck, suburban, tahoe (got mine at pick-n-pull)
- drum/drum POWERED master cylinder (if it's not a powered master cylinder the piston hole will be to deep) I used Oreilly's part# 10-1363

Not sure about how it bolts up on a '66 or whether you need a bracket or not, but I'm sure Captainfab will chime in here at some point.

There's a lot of different ways to get there so be patient and do your homework.

Yeah, hit up Captinfab. He does that is his sleep. He also makes a braket to add power steering while your at it ,it will make a huge difference in the drive quality of the truck. I am doing the brakes on my 64 C-60 code name "Blue Bob" I will be removing the hydrovac and adding a booster on the firewall and dual cicuit brakes. I don't plan on driving this truck maybe a hundred miles a year but I want it to stop when I need it to.

Sorry figured you could use the booster info from the thread. Maybe I linked the wrong one on that also?

Hey Norm; not sure if you want to spring for a 100% correct factory power brake setup but I know where one is - complete w/ working booster, all brackets, push rod, every clip, bolt nut etc and even the factory power brake specific pedal arm.

These are not cheap items to buy, but they increase your trucks value and bolt on w/ no mods....PM if interested and I'll see what I can do

Re: what do i need to put power brakes on

Thanks for the recommend guys

Norm, here is a link to the booster bracket that I sell for the '63-'66 trucks.

http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=339081

With this bracket and one of the many compatable boosters (the '88-'98 is one of them) and the correct master cylinder, it is basically a bolt on deal. The one modification you will have to make is to lengther the booster pushrod. Itnkrman listed the part number for the correct master cylinder to use.
