Not to derail this thread... but can you please explain the different to me I have an 89 CC dually. I was under the impression I have a 14 bolt full floater... Just with dual wheels... It wasn't until I started looking for disc brakes that I became confused...

Re: 14 bolt ff rear disc brakes
GM used both the 14 bolt and Dana 70 HD's in their duallies, just depended on year, engine, and GVWR of the truck.

Re: 14 bolt ff rear disc brakes
I know the Dana70 in my dually actually is stamped & says HD70 or Dana70 (something like that)....

Re: 14 bolt ff rear disc brakes
Yes, 10 coverpan bolts on a Dana 70HD. Easiest way to tell is that the 14 bolt has a bolt on, removable pinion support that is held on by 6 bolts where the Dana does not.

Re: 14 bolt ff rear disc brakes
everything you ever wanted to know about a 14 bolt but were afraid to ask
http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/14b_bible/ Scoti, That link says the 14 bolt was used up to at least 2000 the C&C axle and the SRW axle are the same width. it is the hubs that make the WMS-WMS different. The C&C uses DRW hubs (and DRW brakes so the backing plate mounting is in a different location as well) to make the WMS-WMS narrower

Also curious about which of these 2 rear-ends is considered 'stronger'?

Re: 14 bolt ff rear disc brakes
The new 14 bolts are really just a modified older style at least i would say i have an 05 2500 14b FF under my suburban it was a little longer somewhere like 2-3in each way i think can't remember ill try and measure it soon, its got the finned housing *like the 88+ FF* and disc brakes and its made by AAM who also makes the massive 11.5 rear end found under the 8.1s and diesels
I don't see either the 10.5 or 11.5 break very often except at the truck pull in new baden this weekend i saw an 11.5 under a gmc dually do a 286ft pull and broke the rear end

Re: 14 bolt ff rear disc brakes
Im not sure if the DIY4X C@C brackets will work for you or not on your axle. Im using the single wheel version on my 14 bolt and i think they are awesome quality and fit really nice. I would say the easiest way to find out is email them, im sure they will let you know asap i always thought there customer service was really good and i will definitely keep buying from them.
