Help me lower a ....Longhorn
Ok, today I scored a set of BellTech drop spindles from an '84 1ton dually. I know the spindles are the same for dually and non dually. I also looked up the ball joints for a '71 and an '84 and they are the same for a 1ton and 3/4ton. BUT my truck is a '70!
I plan on the non-dually disc brakes(of course),but these spindles have slide on calipers (had hydroboost) that use a wedge to secure the caliper to the spindle. So I plan on getting the calipers for the spindles and a master cylinder to match. My question is can I use that master cylinder with my stock vacuum booster? Or do I have to go hydroboost? I hope this all makes sense. Thanks OH..also can I use my stock upper and lower A-arms and just change out the ball joints to the newer ones? Thanks

Re: Help me lower a ....Longhorn
As I sit here wondering what banging my head on the keyboard would do, I decided to look up some of the front end parts..... Bottom line is I can't help. The GM service arms include the ball joints which are a '70 down application. Try a Hollander manual.

Re: Help me lower a ....Longhorn
You will need to change your upper and lower balljoints to 73-87 3/4-ton versions.
Also the outer tie rod will need to be changed to the 73-87 version. The 70 inner tie rods will have to be swapped to '70 OUTER tie rods,... installed in the inner location. (to get the correct thread pitch) You will need a conversion tie rod sleeve to connect the smaller 63-70 tie rod to the larger 73-87 tie rod. Performance Online or Edelbrock sells them.
