Heater Core Question
Does anyone know of a way to see if one leaks, when it is out of the truck?

only thing i can think of is cork one outlet, and fill it with colored water

Can`t you just cap off one tube ,neck down a garden hose to the other , turn on the water and watch for leaks? I just replaced mine again but I had a lifetime warranty from Auto Zone so I wasn`t real worried about finding the leak

Cores aren't too expensive.....mine cost $20 from O'reilly's. I would proably just replace it as long as you have it out.
The garden hose sounds like it would work pretty good.

Well I would just buy a new one, but money is really tight right now due to the wife being layed off and going to college and myself also being layed off. Just love NAFTA and Mexico!!
So I was looking for a cheap way out for now, I would hate to buy a new one and not need it. Besides that I don't have anything better to do with my time, Hopefully I will be able to go to college also starting in January, I will try for an auto body certificate and hopefully get a job doing body work. Then eventually go into business for myself, hopefully specializing in custom applications especially for 67-72 Chevy/ GMC's for obivious reasons!!!

Do you have a compressor?
Pressureize the core to about 20 PSI with the other port capped off, and then dunk it under water. |

Yeah, I do have a compressor but what could I use to plug the holes so I could pressurize it ?

A heater hose with a large bolt and a hose clamp securing both ends.
