Its The Simple Things that Make Me Happy

I don't know if anyone here can relate, but it made me so happy last weekend to remove my made in China window cranks and door releases and replace them with the nice set of OEM cranks I bought off this board. Tossed the China stuff into the recycle bin.

Most women like the strong, silent type… Fortunately for me, my wife prefers the out-of-shape, mouthy type.

I can relate, I hate seeing the made in china logo. Funny enough my window crank broke the other day, I turned it over only to find "made in china"

I agree! Pulled one of mine off the other day, saw "made in china" threw it away and put an old tarnished oem one I had laying around back on the truck. I would rather have old tarnished U.S. parts, than shiny foreign made junk.

Re: Its The Simple Things that Make Me Happy

There is a difference between made in china and American made. The OEM parts are made so much better. There was pride of craftsmanship in the U.S. And It wasn't about the money Back then how it is now.

Re: Its The Simple Things that Make Me Happy

The OEM stuff also has much better quality chrome (even at 40 years old), heavier gage steel and aluminum, better fit, less crappy pot metal, and way better rubber. Ever notice how the repop rubber starts to dry rot and crack after a short period if time, and a 40 year old piece will still be holding up just fine? Just straight up better materials and craftsmanship.
