lifter hole blues

The #7 ext lifter was stuck in my 350 and took out the cam also. I got my new cam and installed it today when I went to put the #7 lifter in she didn't want to go. Looked a little closer and there are grooves in the lifter hole. I can't feel them with my finger but when a pick is dragged across them I can feel them, so I took some 1400 sandpaper to it and the lifter moves freely up and down the hole. My question...is it going to be ok? The lifter moves nice when the eng is cold but what is going to happen when it heats up?

Re: lifter hole blues

If it feels the same as the others side to side you are probably OK . There must have been a burr in the bore from removing the bad lifter.

Re: lifter hole blues

Could bring it up to operating temp with a heat gun and see what happens. Won't get it to hot to fast like a torch could.
