68 with silver nose

I think I've read on here that early basic 68s had silver noses and silver bumpers with no eyebrow and hood trim, but most had a white nose and white bumper with the trim. I've seen a lot of the white noses, but can anybody point me to a photo of the silver combination? I have seen the photo of the C-20 on the assembly line, but are there any others? Thanks.

Re: 68 with silver nose

The only pictures I apparently have are this one taken by vintage windmills on his road trip. The other is from one of my archived CL ads.

Re: 68 with silver nose

Perfect! Thanks very much. That second one is the exact color combination I was looking for.

I wonder -- both of those appear to be C-20s, and the factory assembly line silver nose photo floating around is a C-20. Was there any difference between C-10 and C-20 color combinations? Also, does anyone have a closeup on where the paint border is between the silver and the body color? Thanks.

Re: 68 with silver nose

Actually I thought your truck was the Med. Blue like this C30.
Both of the provided pictures were K20s. If you pick up a '68 pickup brochure you might see silver noses beside the blue stepside truck on the cover. Can't help with C10s, most of the time I don't save 'em. But I doubt there was a difference between them and the brochure seems to support that. The paint chart also lists the silver "argent" color for the front end. And I'd imagine that the paint break would be right on the crown ponit like the trim trucks. Lastly here is the contact info I archived. Maybe he has pictures, or the truck. A polite call might get some good closeup pictures. Hope this helps.

Re: 68 with silver nose

Yes, it does help very much. Thanks.

P.S. Mine is the light blue (507) on the outside, althought it is a little darker blue on the inside. The SPID says BLUE VINYL TRIM. I don't know if that has anything to do with the interior paint color.

Re: 68 with silver nose

Sounds like you have some trim color questions as well. So here is the interior color paint chart with paint codes and locations. Just match up you trim color, that's easy all the blues are the same. Here are interior pictures as well.

Re: 68 with silver nose

Very helpful again. Thank you. And I did dig up a copy of the brochure you pictured, and you are absolutely right -- there are several good examples in there of the silver nose 68. They just don't seem to pop up as often in the wild.

Cool I never knew about the silver nose... On a related note I learned some time ago that "argent" is french for silver sooo.... GM "argent silver" is silver silver!!

Re: 68 with silver nose

Here's my 68 C10 with the silver front. I think the bumper has been changed since it is chrome on a basically low optioned truck.

Re: 68 with silver nose

My truck was originally white with a silver nose and chrome bumper. Its also a factory CST. But I think it looks great on black

Here's a couple pictures of a truck I just picked up, and how the factory did it. Hope this helps on the correct painting
