What does the gmc rear emblem look like?
I just got a 68 gmc suburban and am missing the emblem on the tail gate. (clam shell) I can not seem to find one or what it even looks like! Thanks for any help.

This is from Dougo's GMC.
I hear that they are pretty hard to find since they are not reproduced.

Re: What does the gmc rear emblem look like?
Chris is right..... very hard to find. I have come across broken emblems. Try setting up a google alert for 68-72 GMC rear doors on craigslist. You might come across a listing where the emblem is still on the rear door, and you can offer to purchase the emblem, or go big and get the entire door (to get the emblem). But, I have never come across one since I located mine (and I still look).
All I have to say... is if you find one - make an offer they cannot refuse. They are that hard to find... I can take additional pics and post (the only one I have right now is the pic that Chris posted) - just let me know on the need to additional pics.

Is it the same on a barn door as a clam shell?

Re: What does the gmc rear emblem look like?
Yes, the chevy & gmc suburbans both used one of the two below pictured (eye candy) emblems on the RH barn door or the RH side of the lower gate, each make used same emblem/plate on the barn doors & gates (see the exact mounting pin locations on each). Mel

What do you guys think it would take to get someone to reproduce these? Seems like there is a lot of interest. I know myself I could use two.

Re: What does the gmc rear emblem look like?
i explored that about 1.5 years ago, initial investment was going to be around $1,200 to $1,500 (if i recall). that included the mold and a couple emblems.

Re: What does the gmc rear emblem look like?
[QUOTE=About reproducing, this was explored in 09' with a couple of the local northwest metal foundries and after all the cast cost and then the polish and plating cost the bids came in at $6,800. and $7,500. for 50 piece runs. Mel [/QUOTE]
That would actually be a very good price. I would buy 3 or 4 even at the high end listed her on reproduction. |

Re: What does the gmc rear emblem look like?
Hey anyone contact billet badges? They made me a few custom badges. And I was planning on using them again in the future.
Should be cheaper than 1200 bucks Chris Posted via Mobile Device

Re: What does the gmc rear emblem look like?
I would like to try and get some reproduced but so far my efforts haven't found me anyone who can make me a mold. I did contact those billet badge people but I have followed up twice with them and they still don't have any idea if they can do it. I was trying to get with Dougo cause he had some good info on where to get them done, but I can't ever seem to get through to him. Does anyone know any companies that can make a mold?
