Eng. compartments

i was looking and maybe there is a thread but could not find it.

anyways i'm putting a BBC in my 64 and looking to see any other pictures of these swaps, i would like it to look as it came that way from the general, i don't plan on over doing it with chrome i want it to look like if you lifted the hood of a bb chevell or? just simple and clean.
thanks.

Re: Eng. compartments

Big blocks were not available in the 60-66 models. With the exception of the 348/409 engines. You will not find a reference for stock big block engine compartments. There are quite a few threads here on big block swaps that have been performed though. If you went with a period correct block color and painted valve covers, you'd be fine. If you look under the thread...most original truck in existance, you will find plenty of pics of stock engine compartments.

Re: Eng. compartments

Are you running an auto or manual trans? Headers or factort manifolds are the two big ones. If manual trans, you'll have to go w/factory exhaust manifolds or you'll run into clearance /headers. Most guys running manuals convert to hydraulic clutches to remove all the stock linkage from the frame. Also...if you run headers its not uncommon to have to trim the frame rails 1/2" the length of the headers to allow for clearance. Other than that...pretty much a bolt in process. Im sure some of the BBC guys will chime in. Im dropping in 427 myself in the fall, so I have alot of the info...but have not done the conversion yet.

Re: Eng. compartments

That power booster came out of a 79 Chevy truck and is modified to be able to use on the 65. The master is just a wilwood 1 1/8 bore. I have not used the set up yet on the street but I have with the power brake booster and a stock master. I need to repaint the power brake booster black.
