manual to power brakes?

how hard would it be to convert my 79 c-10 to power brakes? would i have to replace my master cylender? its a brand new master cylender and i dont realy wanna have to buy a new one. im going to the junk yard to round up some parts next week while im on spring break. so it would be nice to know if i could swipe just a booster and the vacumme line and put it on my truck

Think the Brake pedal meets to be adjusted for power brake use as manual and power brakes have different travel ratios

Im doing the same on my 75. You need to get the whole brake assembly(pedals) off a power brake truck. And then like you said the master cylinder

Just did this on my '80. I bought a vacuum booster off an '84, and bought a new M/C. They're relatively cheap on RockAuto. The bottom two mounting holes are the same, but you'll have to drill (3/8" IIRC) the two top holes

You don't have to change out the pedal assembly if you don't want to. I kept my pedal bracket assembly (truck was originally a 3-on-the-tree, converted to TH350 before my ownership, the PO just simply removed the clutch pedal) and changed out my brake pedal because I wanted the right wide pedal for an automatic. I pulled it from an '86 C20 that my buddy was scrapping. In the below photo, you can see the manual-brake pedal on the bottom and the power-brake pedal on the top. The holes are there on the "manual" pedal (if you still have stick-shift) - you just have to press a new pin in whichever assist type you go with. IIRC, from the top, the order is manual-vaccum-hydroboost

You can see how the holes lined up with the the automatic pedal (which only came with power assist) and how the ratio is different than the manual brake pedal. I did some quick n' dirty calculations, which are on the second photo.

Everything else lined up perfectly. It's an easy swap...don't forget to bleed your brakes after!

Hey man if you end up replacing the master cylinder go to auto zone, I paid 15 for it and got 5 back for the Core return, when I bench bleed the MC i used a steering wheel puller and a power drill, worked like a charm only took like 15 minutes to bench bleed.
