What 5 lug axles will fit my 68 SWB?
Does anybody know if I can swap in 5 lug axles out of later trucks? Mine is a 1/2 ton, short bed, 2WD with coil springs.
Thanks

The axles on '67-70 trucks are a differnt lenght than on later trucks....it would proably be easiest to swap in a complete rear axle out of a '71-'72 truck.

I just did
this swap I made some spacer plates to go between the backing plate and rear end housing they were 3/4 " thick for each side. They line out perfect now and a hell of alot cheaper than new axles I was told the drums off a 73 heavy half ton would work as they were wider never tried it though

3/4 each side? I thought it was 3/4 TOTAL, putting a 3/8 inch spacer on each side?

I use factory 6 lug axles that we send to a machine shop and have them redrilled (and one hole filled) as a 5 lug pattern, it is cheaper and alot easier since there are a lot of six lug axles around.
