anybody ever replace a wiper switch?
well, i finally figured on the way home it was time to do something about my non-working wipers. i tore into the column a about an hour ago and discovered that where my wiper switch is toast, where the turn signal arm snaps into it. i dont know how, or why its mangled, but it is. so i get to replace the wiper switch. has anyone had to replace an 83+ wiper switch in the column? how hard is it?

Easy as pie =) Just dissconnect the harness at the base of the column, and pull it through, buy a good used or new one, and push the new harness down through the column where the old one was and hook it up. These things are easily mangled, such as if you push on the wiper arm or something really hard, or if someone mashed the column when it was really cold, all sorts of different things that can happen to that weak little plastic thing...

Cut the wires to the old switch at the top of the column, tape them to the new switch witing, and use them to pull the new wiring down to the bottom of the column. I think the new stalk just pops into place.
