Re: newbie needing some help

check out the boards. i have had several prewar chevy trucks so ive been watching this board for a while, but never been active until recently so i know allot of nice builds have come though. im only active now because its 160f in my shop till a new motor for roof fans comes in.

"check out my new shoes" has and impressive drop. "just a truck" has the tranny you want and so much more. im sure theres a blue and black truck on here somewhere(im painting mine competition white with blue accents).
personally 20 dont really fit the lines of these trucks. besides, despite the abundant availability, these are still classics. just because you can doesn't mean you should.

best advice...before you go and dump a ton of money into the dirvetrain start by assessing the truck. in allot of cases theres more rust than metal on windshield channels and floor boards than there is truck. you can pick up a whole cab for a few hundred and if you dont have a welding rig its just easier. you dont see allot of fiberglass and bondo patches on this forum so just reading the forums will lead in the right direction. if you do run across a bondo patch its normally followed by a 10 page flame. those are always good for a laugh.

Re: newbie needing some help

Welcome aboard. I don't have any help on your questions, but I just bought a 69 swb a few months ago. It's the first of this body style for me. Try using the search bar at the top of the page. It's been real helpful for me. I usually just put in 1 or 2 words and search the 67-72 boards.
If you can post some pics of your truck. Everybody loves pics.

Here is a link to some blue trucks

Re: newbie needing some help

Ok so I still need ideas for both seats and center console. What is some easy bucket seats (comfy)? And I need genteel console ideas or where to buy one. I am keeping the tank behind the seat too. And what do you guys do for speakers.....I plan on having a sub and speakers and tweeters in the console but what about door side??

Here are a few pictures of my interior, the seats came from a 90's ford focus and I used some square tube and stock legs to build a frame under them. The center piece is made of wood and tilts forward to expose the amp and alarm system. Everything is upholstered with leather. The shifter is the tall Mega shifter for trucks The speakers in the kick panel were bought from LMC but I later change to a better speaker from a local shop. There is a 8 in. sub in a box under each bucket seat. Turn the base up and get a nice massage.

Re: newbie needing some help

somewhere between 69" and 76 1/2" for a 1/2 ton. i just did a search on the board to find that so i don't know how its measured

older chevy 1/2 tons are about 5" from the wheel to the top edge of the wheel opening in the front . i just use my fist as a measuring device.
