230 inline 6 i think
first off i'm very new to the truck scene. and i dont know to much about theses inline 6 engines. so here goes.
my truck is a 66 c-10 with a 3 sp on the column how do i tell what eng i have. also what kind of engine mods can be done to theses engines and who do you guys recomend for these eng mods. thanks norm |

Welcome. If it is the original engine, it is probably the 250. The 250 and 230 shared the same block (longer stroke crank for the 250). The L6 responds well to the intake and exhaust upgrades that Clifford Performance and Langdons offer.

You could also have the 292. The easiest way to ID a 292 is by the offset motor mounts. The passenger side will be farther forward, and located between the fuel pump and the distributor on the engine.

I always look for the taller push rod covers, dead giveaway for the 292.

Without dropping the oil pan or pulling the head, you'll need to do a displacement check.

ok thxs for the info. are there any good inline 6 engine shops that are good at makeing
some good horsepower with these engines i can of like the unique factor with the 6 cyl. i 'm use to the high horse power sbc but really want to do something with a 6. thanks norm roll |
