58 Burb with a case of patina
I bought this thing a few years back and for now it's still a lawn ornament. I've come to the conclusion that nobody makes 1/4 panels for it. A few board members have suggested the next best thing would be to use fleetside panels. I've been keeping my eye out for a fleetside for a couple years and I FOUND ONE! Now my dilemma is whether I have the heart to murder a solid fleetside box for the greater good of fixing the Burb.. Either way it's still on the back burner till my 68 Burb is on the road.

Being that its a long bed i would sacrifice it.
Its a hard desicion to make owning a fleetside myself and I had a 59 burb a couple years ago. I absolutely love those rigs. The one i had was as badly eaten away as yours and i gave up and sold it. It was just a roller anyway. Now that nathan porter has a new subframe out for these trucks i vote for BUILD! Posted via Mobile Device looked at the pics again and noticed the clamshells.. Did you check out the wheel openings on the fleetside? They are different than the suburban. The wheel openings on the stepside fenders are the same as the burb openings. Most who have fixed burbs that I know of used step side fenders as the patch panels and made a patch panel for the setion in front of the wheel opening.

Buggy, I assume you are talking about the inner fender panels?

It's really hard for me to tell the difference since my Burb doesn't have much left to compare to.

I realize the 1/4 panel is a bit different on the fleetside, but it's hard to tell if the wheel opening is any different. If it is, it isn't that noticeable.

They are different. I have a set of wheel openings off a fleetside laying in my garage. The fleet is about 36" at the bottom, the Burb/panel is under 33" - the molded piece at the bottom is also a different profile, especially behind the wheel. There is enough of a difference that somone who knows burbs/panels will notice. If your not worried about then they will work. I would love to have that fleetside bed so I vote for not cutting it up.....with all that said, I saved the wheel openings off the fleetside bed just in case I end up with a burb that needs quarters.....the rest of the fleetside bed.....well its in transformation phase for my 57 LCF.
