Picked up a new toy/daily driver!

Well, went and picked this up today. Its an '82 with a straight 6 and a 4 speed! Its gonna need some cosmetic work and that's about it, it runs drives and stops really well. This truck is extremely clean underneath, almost as well as my 86 that was garage kept in California, no rust through any where that I could find its a very very solid truck.

Figure a small drop and some 20s with a nice sized tire and fix some of the interior stuff and call it a day. I'm limiting my budget to about $2500 for this one.

I traded a quad that needed alot of work and $250 cash for this one...

Heres a couple pictures for now, ill snap some more tomorrow.

Sweet truck! Sounds and looks like a good deal. No offense but I think chrome rims would look so much better then those black wagons. You going to keep the six?

Re: Picked up a new toy/daily driver!

No offense taken! Those wheels will come off real quick, want to use either a polished/chrome torq thrust style wheel.

I'm gonna keep the six in it, drove it 100 miles back home today and the gas gauge barely moved. I can watch the gauge in my 86 drop..

Re: Picked up a new toy/daily driver!

It is a 250/sm465 as far as gears go I have no idea the build sheet isnt in the truck. In second gear i hits about 55 before you have to shift again.. It is the same color as my 86.

Re: Picked up a new toy/daily driver!

Does the cruise control work? I installed one like that unit in my old 91 Dakota. It worked a little slow due to low vacuum from a V6. Nice find.

Re: Picked up a new toy/daily driver!

I had on just like it but it was white and had a 305 in it. first thing I always do is replace the battery wires with a 2ga and get wires plugs and a hi po coil. Best quick cheap upgrade you can do for it.I still can't stand the 80's govt crappy fix for clean air emissions vaccum lines running everywhere. Weird seeing the ground when the hood is up. LOL
