Doors for my 51 truck

Hello all,
ive got a 51 3600 chevy truck and im getting down to needing doors to finish the build before it goes to be wired and painted. is it easier to try and find some cheap doors or should i try and repair mine. current doors have bottom rusted out and everything is froze up. missing window cranks and all internal parts. would it be easier to have a solid window instead of a wing vent in my current doors?
Thanks in advance

Re: Doors for my 51 truck

The only advice i can give you about getting new doors, is if your doors fit the opening nice, meaning does it open and close nice, are door gaps ok i would say use your doors. Getting door from another truck you take the chance of them not fitting as nice and could use more work in the long run.. If you doors are not rusted out to where they can't be fixed all the stuff you said was bad can be fixed..

Re: Doors for my 51 truck

The going price for a rust free door in fair condition around here is usually 75.00 although some sellers seem to ask a lot more.

I'd have to weigh the cost of patch panels and possibly paying someone to to the repair to the cost of a good door that only needed sanding and slicking out.

Also you have to look at where the doors are rusted out. It it is around where the hinges mount I'd change them.

There isn't really much of a way you can take them very far apart to clean the insides.
