87 chevy doors on my 74, power window n locks questions
hey guys i have a few questions
I just got my hands on 2 87 chevy doors power windows and locks($100) im going to be putting them on my 74 chevy i hav heard that i will need to run a 10gauge wire from the battery to a 30a fuse then to the harness? ive been searching for like 3 days Is their a way to try the window motor and locks without the wiring harness (i got to go to find one), and without taking the motor out of the door? Could i just put the door infront of my truck run a 10g wire from the battery with a 30a fuse? Or is there a how to take the motor and solenoid out? ive been searching here but i might not have been wording it right If i do take it out what would be the best way to leave the window in their when i take the motor out? tape wire |

I use a power probe all the time to run windows up and down that are removed from a vehicle. Same would apply to working a lock motor. Just have to have the harness in the door.

IMO pretty much any harness you can get will need to be wired anyways since there was no power windows in '74. So I would say get a harness that plugs right into your doors Close to '87 as possible. then you will need to wire it under the dash.

Re: 87 chevy doors on my 74, power window n locks questions
Yea I know I will have to wire a 10gaige wire from the battery to a 30a fuse, and to the ignition switch, but I was mainly asking if the harness that goes to the doors like the window switches, power switches, window motor and lock soelnoid be the same,
I know I will have to modify the harness to work on the 74, but will all the wires, connections be the same inside the door? Posted via Mobile Device |
