tips on changing exhaust manifolds?
hey guys tomorrow i am taking my pass side ramhorn off, the one on there now is all cracked and leaking bad, last night i saw blue flames shooting out! nuked a brand new plug wire. anyways is it going to be a bit ch swapping ramhorns? i got another set in good shape so ill just have to bolt the one on. is there a good order in doing things? i think ill attack those bottom 3 bolts first so the whole manifold isnt putting its weight on the pipe. any help appreciated.
thanks Derek

I think you have the right idea. Unhook your battery also, so you don't get any arcing down there.

hose it all down with some PB Blaster or other quality penitrating oil. (WD40 is not a quality lube...you could pee on it and get better results)
If they have not been removed in the past 10 years, don't expect it to be a slam dunk. There will be broken bolts. If you have access to a cutting torch, use it to heat up the nuts on teh pipe untill cherry red, then hit them with the impact. Heating up the bolts going to the head will help too, but don't heat the head up to the point of glowing for obviouse reasons. |

i cracked all the bolts on the manifold. just wanted to see how tight they were, all good, but i know those 3 bottom ones are going to be bastards..oh and i just talked to my dad and the ramhorn he has dumps straight down, and that sucks cause mine are on a slight angle. now i gotta find another ramhorn. if anyone local has one i need it bad. passenger side dumps down but the 3 studs are on a slight angle back.
thanks Derek
